Youth Service Project

A passionate team of 40 young volunteers ranging from students from University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Sungai Long Campus to working youth spent a day’s hard work in repainting the classrooms of SJKC Bandar Sungai Long on 5th November 2022.
The community service project themed “Youth for U #KitaConnect” kicked off with an inspiring opening speech by Universal Peace Federation Malaysia President, Mr Sudesh Balasubramaniam and a briefing by Mr Chan Yien Wei, Chairman of Ajar-ajar Malaysia Sungai Long Branch.
The task was not an easy one as it also involved the re-arrangement of the tables, cupboards, lockers and removing the wooden notice boards on the wall before the painting works could commence.
It almost seemed mission impossible at first, with the short time given and limited materials. However, despite the challenges faced, with the spirit of teamwork among the volunteers coupled with the heart to serve others, the team was able to finish painting 19 classrooms by the end of the day. The job was exhausting but meaningful as we imagine the smiles and surprises of the little school children who will be back for classes on Monday.
We are very proud of the young people and their willingness to dedicate their time and energy for the benefit of others. It is our fervent hope to nurture the youths of today to as future leaders who concern and care for the society and nation.
We sincerely thank the Women’s Federation for World Peace Malaysia, Bandar Mahkota Cheras Resident’s Association, the school administration, Parents-Teachers’ Association and all sponsors and supporters for giving the youth an opportunity to serve the community.
