Malaysia Leadership Seminar Johor

On 15 October 2022, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Johor Chapter, Johor Consumer Welfare Association, Women’s Federation for World Peace Malaysia and the Lions Club of Skudai jointly organised the Malaysia Leadership Seminar (MLS) with the theme ‘Providing Vision and Leadership for Nation Building and Sustainable Peace.’

The event was held at the Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru, Johor in conjunction with the Ambassador for Peace Award ceremony. Ms. Serene Low, President of Lions Club Skudai who was also the emcee, welcomed over 80 representatives from government, NGOs, businesses, and academia in a full-packed hall.

Puan Sri Sarasa Pasamanickam as the MLS Co-Organsing Chair gave the welcoming remarks and reminded the audience that it is the power of love and not the love of power that will bring peace.

Captain S. Ragu, representative of YB Tuan Vidyananthan Ramanadhan, ADUN Kahang, delivered a short speech on behalf of YB and shared words of encouragement to the audience.

The Ambassador for Peace Award Ceremony was hosted by Mr. Joachim Ng, Vice President of UPF Malaysia. Three exemplary leaders were called to the stage to receive the prestigious international award presented on behalf of UPF International by UPF Malaysia President, Asst Prof Sudesh Balasubramaniam accompanied by Puan. Sri Sarasa Pasamanickam, Tuan Haji Meraj @ Mohammed A. Jalal and Mr Lai Peng Keong.

After the awards, three experienced speakers spoke on the theme of this leadership seminar. They were:

Mr. Lai Peng Keong, UPF National Liaison Director for Malaysia

Mr. Lim San Shien, President of University of Malaya Young Leaders Association

Three Associates of UPF also shared their life-changing experiences and reflection in their journey with UPF in addition to lively dancers from Kumpulan Tarian Amal Little Seed who entertained the audience with graceful traditional dances.

The seminar also saw four outstanding students from B40 families receiving refurbished laptops from WFWP Malaysia, presented by Mdm Lina Cheng, President of WFWPM. The Rasuah Busters of Johor, led by Mr Azmi CM was given a slot to promote the #MalaysiaTanpaRasuah campaign for a cleaner and corruption-free Malaysia.
