A Cordial Meeting with Board of Advisors was held on 12th January 2019 at Armada Hotel, Petaling Jaya to kick start the new year.
Advisors Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Sukiman Sarmani, Dr Che Amir Farid Che Isahak and Dato’ Muhammad Nasir Hamzah extended their appreciation to council members of UPF for making Year 2018 a great success and they looked forward to more pathmaking achievements in 2019.
4 Council members and 5 state representatives also attended the meeting to discuss the plans and activities to expand UPF Malaysia as a nationwide platform. The meeting started with two panel sessions entitled “Strengthening Marriage and Family” and “Raising Future Leaders of Characters”.
On behalf of Board of Advisors and the council, UPF Malaysia’s President, Mr Sudesh G. Balasubramaniam presented a bouquet to Special Envoy of The Philippines to Malaysia, Mr Wencelito Tan Andanar, Al Haj and his wife.
In Panel Session I “Strengthening Marriage and Family”, Mr Alagesan Ayaru, Organizing Chairman of Loving Couple Festival (LCF) Penang 2018 shared his experiences at these events. One of the highlights was the presence of disabled couples, deaf couples and cancer survivors. He was so moved and inspired that UPF’s work and initiatives can really benefit and embrace everyone from different backgrounds and ethnicity.
In Panel Session II, “Raising Future Leaders of Characters”, Mdm. Shanta Venugopal, the Project Director of Multicultural Youth Service (MCYS) shared her 10-year experience in conducting MCYS in Malaysia and overseas. She testified that MCYS encourages communication among the youths and the well-designed character-building programme can foster the relationship beyond races and religions.
