On 14 November 2021, UPF Malaysia held a Deepavali Luncheon at the Sri Saradha Devi Charity & Welfare Association (SSDI) in Rawang. The SSDI is well-known for providing its children with good education equipped with all basic necessities in order to promote excellent growth physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Lunch was served for the 32 children and all staff at the SSDI. The joyous celebration included several exciting cultural dances, Silambam Martial Arts performances by the children and Tong Il Moo Do (TIMD) Martial Arts demonstrations by TIMD instructors.
President of UPF Malaysia, Mr. Sudesh G. Balasubramaniam presented the Circle of Light Distinguished Humanitarian Award to Dr. Kumaran Adakalam, President of SSDI, in recognition of his humanitarian service exemplifying the ideals of living for the sake of others. Mr. Lai Peng Keong, UPF National Liaison Director presented gifts of appreciation to the staffs and volunteers of SSDI under the UPF Circle of Light Aid Project. All the UPF Exco took turns to present a complete stationery kit and the autobiography of UPF founder, Father Moon with the title “As a Peace-loving Global Citizen” to all the children of SSDI.
UPF is also pleased to be part of the Silambam Belt Graduation Ceremony whereby Mr Sudesh was invited to present graduation belts and certificates to all children.
The celebration concluded with a peace message read by UPF Deputy President Mr Tan Khim Lai emphasising the importance of youth and well wishes for all the members of the SSDI.
